The host of "Countdown" said MLB should overturn Joyce's call and give Galaraga the 21st perfect game in MLB history and third this year. So Phillies Phever asked Keith whether MLB should overturn some calls that affected the outcomes of some World Series as well. Of course I didn't expect a response considering how many people send tweets to Keith but after I hit refresh about 30 seconds later, this appeared:<br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 47px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5478375949093295378" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUd3d7CuS31FsZBXKPjR32FMxLatkywmFYFh_iq_fpLdDnkV77OtU5bJInq1b2GcWBr-Tlph10bxFnOKPsu0S2khVx6EbbqXDG4P4ydeiHB3nWIo9R4uyxXXQxzMd3ijiePR1jf4_At0GF/s400/Olbermann.bmp" />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-520652173596716192.post-65861540711695323672010-05-31T17:15:00.003-04:002010-05-31T18:04:38.118-04:00Minor League Monday<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCjfOvsITVsq66TqiSnPKALINEPXPslNMVOKru0_D7gCe8wKnTecyxwpU-qIGZ7c1QwTzVXpUyrvshNtJbOz4ZeiwyKce590ByXTtacLiOSaDYxVpJI1EAIhcTGfEF3hhMDy2qHCkyOQ4C/s1600/Minors+Monday.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 182px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5477546028053026722" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCjfOvsITVsq66TqiSnPKALINEPXPslNMVOKru0_D7gCe8wKnTecyxwpU-qIGZ7c1QwTzVXpUyrvshNtJbOz4ZeiwyKce590ByXTtacLiOSaDYxVpJI1EAIhcTGfEF3hhMDy2qHCkyOQ4C/s400/Minors+Monday.jpg" /></a><strong> <span style="font-family:arial;color:#000099;">Lehigh Valley IronPigs (18-31, 11.5 GB)</span></strong><br />It was another tough week for the Phillies' AAA team. The IronPigs went 2-4 this week including a sweep at the hands of the Columbus Clippers over the weekend. The good news is that 1B Andy Tracy is back after missing a lot of time on the DL. Tracy came back on Thursday night and made an impact right away after struggling prior to his time on the DL. In the four game series at Columbus, Tracy hit .500, drove in nine, scored four times, hit three home runs, and walked seven times. The other good news is that all the games have been close so if everybody starts hitting, the Pigs will start winning. Lehigh Valley plays a bad Charlotte team at home this week which gives them a good chance to pick up some wins.<br /><strong><span style="font-family:arial;color:#000099;">Leaders:</span></strong><br /><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="color:#cc0000;">AVG:</span> Rich Thompson (.299)</span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="color:#cc0000;">HR:</span> Cody Ransom (11)</span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="color:#cc0000;">RBI:</span> Cody Ransom (34)</span><br /><span style="color:#000099;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="color:#cc0000;">SB:</span> Rich Thompson (10)</span></span><br /><span style="color:#000099;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="color:#cc0000;">W:</span> Drew Carpenter (5)</span></span><br /><span style="color:#000099;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="color:#cc0000;">ERA:</span> Scott Mathieson (0.73)</span></span><br /><span style="color:#000099;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="color:#cc0000;">K:</span> Ryan Vogelsong (50)</span></span><br /><span style="color:#000099;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="color:#cc0000;">SV:</span> Scott Mathieson (8)</span></span><br /><p><span style="color:#000099;"><strong><span style="font-family:arial;color:#cc0000;">Reading Phillies (20-28, 10.0 GB)<br /></span></strong><span style="font-family:lucida grande;"><span style="color:#000000;">The week started off well for the R-Phils with a sweep over the Portland Sea Dogs but ended with three straight loses to Altoona (four game series wraps up tonight). So until we score, I leave with this:<br /><br /><p align="center"><object width="420" height="300"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/1d42oM3KuNw&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0xe1600f&color2=0xfebd01"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/1d42oM3KuNw&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0xe1600f&color2=0xfebd01" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="420" height="300"></embed></object></p>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-520652173596716192.post-49562748329591114052010-05-27T20:41:00.007-04:002010-05-28T02:19:49.589-04:00Rain Delay: Moron of the Year Update<div align="center"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 203px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 159px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5476116601289449810" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAe7s0B9lKgE-mfp1aFal6QPj9YYLoWxl1eHeRNlqFvUqJLiCfzCyc59Dcd_G1mIUOsAEY2EEhmgV2ipsH-InjM-bNDfnzsDEjPAZ29_mm9RPEGsLvJhUmHZ1Bfa11c7CCvUuuQgJdG7sM/s320/300.jpg" /><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhg1cacc1ZZoz0Zr23CKPBbu1fb8d_u7vd_6fY_hnq9guopdqiztIsDWsU0bYV3ngtsEr0hb7Y0VzgnF2z1SCYVdCsP8rjGBhU0tDWeltqFcaFAk2M60wZIa2TfkXbxT9_j35uIL2P2IP-r/s1600/Charlie+1.jpg"></a><div align="left">Another nomination for "The Feild" in the "Moron of the Year" contest. The Phillies were shutout once again in an 8-0 loss to the Mets. Now the Mets are only three games back with the Braves catching up at 2.5. There seems to be no effort out of the Phils. Not many of the guys showed patience at the plate. Who else but Rod Barajas killed the Phillies again, driving in three with a double. Jose Reyes picked up two RBIs, one off a solo home run in the 3rd. Phillies batters continued to lower the ERA of opposing teams by not scoring. Mets starter Hisanori Takahashi (4-1) pitched six scoreless allowing only five hits while dropping his ERA from 2.53 to 2.13. Joe Blanton (1-3) struggled for the Phils, giving up five runs in 5.1 innings.<br /><br /><strong><span style="color:#cc0000;">Perfect Night in the Minors</span></strong><br />While the big Phillies struggle, the minor league teams continue to post wins. Lehigh Valley had off last night but Reading, Clearwater, and Lakewood all won. In Reading, Matt Rizzotti hit a 3-run walk off HR after a great start from Vance Worley (7 IP, 2 ER, 6 H). John Singleton drove in another run at Lakewood and got two hits. In just 14 games for the BlueClaws, Singleton is batting .429 with 4 HR and 15 RBI.<br /><br />-Speaking of Singleton, he and teammate pitcher Brody Colvin were named the Phillies Minor League Players of the Week.<br /><br />-<span style="color:#993399;">Rockies</span> starter Ubaldo Jimenez got his 9th win last night after pitching eight scoreless. His last start against the Cubs was the best of his four starts so far. Blanton gave up three runs on five hits in seven innings of work but didn't factor into the decision. He is filling in for the injured Jon Niese and has done a fantastic job so far. He's only had one start but the one was against the Yankees and he dominated their lineup. The bats still couldn't solve the knuckleball which R.A. Dickey threw perfectly during six shutout innings. Not that the Phillies didn't have their chances though, they left 13 men on base and left the bases loaded two innings in a row. They did manage nine hits, three by Polanco. Jamie Moyer wasn't terrible but his accuracy which has been so good in May was off last night. Moyer pitched five innings giving up four runs on seven hits. Mets catcher Rod Barajas continued to kill the Phillies, picking up two more hits and scoring a run. Outfielders Jeff Francoeur and Jason Bay each had two RBIs. The Phillies have been held scoreless in 28 of their last 29 innings. With the victory, the Mets move within four games of the Phillies and even the season series at two games a piece.<br /><br /><strong><span style="color:#cc0000;">Good Night in the Minors</span></strong><br /><span style="color:#cc0000;"><span style="color:#000000;">While the Phillies<strong> </strong>couldn't get anything going offensivley in Flushing, the IronPigs and R-Phils didn't need to. At Lehigh Valley, Drew Carpenter (5-4) pitched 6.2 innings allowing only one run while striking out seven in what ended in a 2-1 IronPigs win. In Reading, Drew Naylor pitched a complete game shutout in the R-Phils 6-0 win over Portland. Domonic Brown had two triples. Lakewood also won with the red hot 1B Jonathan Singleton getting four more hits, another homer, and four more RBIs. Clearwater lost.</span></span><br /><br /><p><span style="color:#cc0000;"><span style="color:#000000;">-<a href="http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100525&content_id=10409258&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb">The first round of NL All-Star votes are in</a>. Chase Utley leads all NL vote getters with 687,724 votes, more than 500,000 ahead of Rickie Weeks for the second base position. Polanco, Rollins, Werth, and Victorino would also be in if voting ended today. Howard and Ruiz are near the top at their positions.</span></span></p><p><span style="color:#cc0000;"><span style="color:#000000;">-Minnesota must really be enjoying outdoor baseball.
